iPhones (prior to series 8 and X) don’t support wireless charging from the get go. But fortunately, there is a work-around. It’s called “Receiver Pad” or “QI receiver”.
Receiver pads (image to the left) look like a credit card with a lightning-plug attached. Fairly slim built (around 1-2mm), they only contain a wire coil that receives the electro-magnetic energy emitted by the transmitter or charging pad, plus an electronic circuit that converts the current into 5V DC required for charging. The pad is kept at the back of your phone by a sticker or your case.

Will It Work With My Phone Case?The ultra-thin receiver fits under and works well with most phone cases. Unless your case is very thick (>3mm) or contains metal. Qi wireless charging uses magnetic induction, which works only in close proximity (< 6mm) and can not penetrate metal.
